Being the legend that he is, we decided to make a Shepard Fairey style ‘hope’ poster for our hero Julius. Obviously with some local colours in it.
Give us your ideas for words to replace the ‘ClassicMalema’ bit in this.

We should depart from all this ‘liberation’ talk – we have entered a NEW phase in SA, ‘liberation’ is not quite the correct word anymore, as it supposes an intelligent opponent the other side, and that opponent quickly gets a face (unfairly), eg. Helen Zille. Nomenclature has a huge role to play here, it does have importance. Should we not call it ‘wealth creation’?

Try getting the colours right first. You cant call it an Obama style poster if you don’t use the standard red and blue.

You’re talking about how our country is filled with a bunch of corrupt opportunists…..your country has a history of feeding off other nations’ wealth and natural resources. Doesnt that come down to the same thing? Almost every country who’s had to fight for freedom from imperialist governments or in cases like ours, has gone through periods like this. The ANC is an institution in South Africa because of what they mean to the people here, for what they’ve done for us. They certainly are not the party they used to be, they’re certainly not the party that Mandela and Oliver Tambo started but for many South Africans…poor South Africans, marginalised South Africans they are still the party who fought Apartheid on behalf of the people and who they believe will fight poverty on behalf of them. The latter probably wont happen in our life time but what you need to understand is this….what Obama is to America -and the rest of the world, ESPECIALLY Africa- the ANC is to people here. We might not agree with it but we have to respect. I am certainly not a supporter of the ANC (nor am I of COPE or the DA ) or Julius Malema BUT I am a proud South African who respects the foundation the ANC was built upon and I will defend it in every way that I can. These people might be the face of the ANC but at the end of the day they are not the ANC. I’m sure being a proud Obama supporter you recognize the fact that countries make mistakes when choosing leaders, some make the same mistake more than once….your country did after all have Bush in office for two terms.
